Katy Perry Relaxes with Tacos in Mexico City Before ‘The Lifetimes Tour’ Concert Dates

If you’re visiting Mexico and haven’t had tacos, then you’re probably missing out on one of the country’s quintessential experiences. That’s certainly how Katy Perry seems to have felt during her recent trip to Mexico City to promote her The Lifetimes Tour.

During her stay, the pop superstar, known for hits like “I Kissed a Girl” and “Roar,” took some time off from her hectic schedule to indulge in the local cuisine. She was spotted at a restaurant in Mexico City’s trendy Roma neighborhood, where she enjoyed a taco volcán—a popular Mexican dish featuring a tortilla shaped like a volcano, often stuffed with fillings like meat, cheese, and other tasty toppings. Although it appeared she didn’t add any salsa to her taco, the classic Mexican sides like salsa and lime were present on the table, along with a refreshing bottle of cola.

Katy was in good company, accompanied by her production team, but the thing that made this visit even more special was her relaxed, no-fuss approach. She didn’t need to disguise herself—there were no hats or oversized hoodies to hide her identity. Instead, she seemed to embrace the moment, enjoying her meal just like any local would.

And what’s Katy’s taco preference? It turns out her go-to filling is Rib Eye. Yes, the star is a fan of those juicy cuts of steak wrapped up in warm tortillas, much like many of us who enjoy a hearty taco.

After savoring her meal, Katy took the opportunity to pose for pictures with the staff at the restaurant and even received a special souvenir—a Dr. Simi plush dressed as a taquero (taco vendor). For those unfamiliar with Dr. Simi, it’s the official mascot of the Mexican brand Farmacias similares, and it’s become a symbol of Mexican pop culture, especially among fans of concerts and major events.

This taco stop is just one of the many moments Katy has enjoyed while in Mexico as part of her The Lifetimes Tourpromotion. Speaking of her upcoming performances, Katy announced her Mexican tour dates, which include shows in Mexico City (April 25, 2025), Monterrey (April 28), and Guadalajara (May 1). If you’re a fan, you’ll want to mark your calendars for the pre-sale dates on November 14 and 15 (using Banco Azteca cards), and the general sale starts on November 16.

In addition to her taco indulgence, Katy also appeared on Azteca‘s morning television show, where she engaged in some light-hearted activities with the crew, showcasing her down-to-earth personality and sense of humor.

Katy’s visit to Mexico serves as a reminder of how music, food, and culture intersect in such a special way. Whether you’re in the mood for a concert or craving some tacos, there’s no better place than Mexico to indulge in both.
